Simplifhy realised two containerised solutions for international projects

29 Nov 2024

We at Simplifhy have recently realised two turnkey containerised solutions for international customers, one from Thailand and one from the UK.

Let us take a closer look at the features and type of use of the two systems.

Containerised hydrogen storage system in Thailand: turnkey project

The first project, realised for an important Thai customer, is a turnkey containerised system built in Italy and then transported to Thailand. It is a liftable container for outdoor installation, which was built for a hydrogen storage system with four 1000-litre tanks each for storing hydrogen at 30 bar. The purpose of the system is to store hydrogen and supply it to a customer’s fuel cell system.

The operations of the entire process are fully managed remotely via four automated solenoid valves: two for process management and two for safety. In addition, the system is equipped with two gas detection devices installed on the facility with alarm sirens.

This storage solution will be delivered for the test plant of a major petrochemical customer in Thailand and will be managed through a well-known international EPC.

Containerised hydrogen electrolysis and storage system: project for a British company

The second project is a turnkey containerised electrolysis solution for a British company and was managed through another major international EPC. It consists of a 20′ High Cube standard size container with a total weight of approximately 6500 kg.

Specifically, the system consists of:

  • An electrolysis system consisting of two electrolysers in parallel
  • A hydrogen storage tank
  • A mixing unit to produce an N2/H2 mixture.

Demineralised water supplied externally from the container is stored in a buffer tank and then used to produce hydrogen with two electrolysers. The hydrogen produced is stored in a tank. Here, the production and use of hydrogen can be decoupled.

The hydrogen produced has two types of use:

  • Pure hydrogen supply, coming directly from the hydrogen tank
  • Hydrogen/nitrogen mixture supply.

The mixture is produced with a mixing unit that has Hydrogen from the tank unit and Nitrogen supplied by the customer as input. The mixture is used for subsequent chemical processes.
