At the international Hannover Messe 2024, companies from mechanical and electrical engineering, the digital industry and the energy sector come together to present their solutions for a high-performance yet sustainable industry.
The Hannover Messe is considered Europe’s most important trade fair for industry and automation. The next edition takes place from 22 to 26 April 2024 at the Hannover Exhibition Centre in Hannover, Germany, with a strong focus on sustainability.

Hannover Messe 2024: Carbon-neutral production
The European Union’s Green Deal sets the goal of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
This means that every single company has an obligation to reduce its carbon footprint and cut CO2 emissions.
Therefore, the Hannover Messe 2024 will focus on strategic topics such as carbon-neutral production, artificial intelligence and hydrogen.
At the stand of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, the competence centre provides information on the possibilities of industrial transformation to achieve climate neutrality.
In addition, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Engineering and Automation IPA presents a research project developed together with 39 important partners. This project has resulted in the concept of a system that should enable the introduction of DC networks in factories, with important advantages in terms of energy and resource savings.
Among the innovations on show at Hannover Messe 2024 is a promising technology for a carbon-neutral future. Indeed, a South Korean photovoltaic manufacturer has succeeded in developing a tandem cell with an efficiency of up to 29.3 per cent in cooperation with the Helmholtz Centre in Berlin.
The site is a jointly operated pilot production line for perovskite silicon tandem cells in Thalheim. Perovskite tandem cells are a new generation of solar cell technology that promises a significant increase in efficiency compared to the solutions commonly used today.

Hannover Messe 2024 brings together over 500 exhibitors from the hydrogen and fuel cell industry, together with the unique Hydrogen + Fuel Cells EUROPE community.
