With the construction of a new green hydrogen storage unit in Thailand, we have taken a further
step in the international energy transition.
The project was developed in cooperation with our partner Enapter, a manufacturer of highly
efficient hydrogen generators to replace fossil fuels and drive the global energy transition.
The plant was installed in Wang Chan Valley, Rayong Province, Thailand, at the PTTEP
Technology and Innovation Centre (PTIC), a technology hub of excellence dedicated to the
development of sustainable energy solutions.
The characteristics of the new hydrogen plant in Thailand
The plant installed in Thailand is a containerised system for the storage of green hydrogen at
low pressure (30 bar), designed and built entirely in Italy.
The heart of the system consists of four tanks of 1000 litres each, which can be configured into
independent modules for more efficient management and easier maintenance.
This solution offers a number of important technical advantages:
- Absence of compression, for greater safety and operational simplicity
- Remote management for improved efficiency, thanks to the integration of four automated
solenoid valves (two process and two safety) and two gas detection sensors with
acoustic alarm systems - Modularity of the system, allowing it to be adapted to multiple requirements
Green hydrogen, produced on site using AEM Enapter electrolysers, is stored and then used to
power a fuel cell system, generating low-emission energy.
This application is a concrete example of the efficient and sustainable use of hydrogen in an
industrial context.
Simplifhy’s contribution and the value of international projects
We at Simplifhy were responsible for the design and construction of the hydrogen storage unit,
demonstrating our ability to handle complex projects even outside Italy.
The solution was conceived, engineered and built in Italy, to be subsequently installed in the
PTIC, an advanced Thai centre dedicated to testing, prototyping and development in the clean
energy sector.
Although we are a company that mainly operates in Italy, participating in projects like this gives
us the opportunity to export our know-how to new contexts and strengthen our presence
internationally in synergy with our partners.
The system installed in Thailand is a concrete example of the quality and versatility of our
solutions.
Furthermore, this project has allowed us to consolidate our role in the sector as a solution
provider capable of designing and building customised plants for the production, storage and
use of hydrogen.
This innovative plant is further confirmation of our commitment to developing sustainable
solutions for decarbonisation and energy transition with cutting-edge technologies that can be
replicated globally.
