On 15 May, we celebrated Simplifhy’s fifth anniversary with an event dedicated to the world of hydrogen and the energy transition.
The initiative was not only a celebratory occasion but also an opportunity for dialogue between companies, professionals, partners and organisations involved in the development of the hydrogen sector in Italy. The afternoon was structured around four main elements: technical talks, interactive activities, a tour of the laboratories and a networking session to round off the event.
An event dedicated to the energy transition and green hydrogen
We were delighted to celebrate this important milestone at the Vimercate campus of the ITS Green Academy, with whom we have long collaborated to deliver training courses for technicians specialising in hydrogen. The day’s programme alternated between technical presentations, opportunities for discussion, and hands-on activities for our guests. Following the initial welcome coffee, the event got underway with a series of presentations focusing on the evolution of the European energy market, the role of hydrogen in the energy transition, and the industrial prospects of the sector.
The talks: green hydrogen, decarbonisation and industrial development
Among the keynote speeches, Livia Pastore, Strategic Business Advisor at Axpo Solution AG, explored the evolution of the European energy landscape, highlighting the challenges associated with energy dependence on fossil fuels, the development of renewables, and the need for increasingly advanced energy storage and integration systems.
Particular attention was paid to the strategic role of green hydrogen as a key enabler for industrial decarbonisation, energy storage and the creation of integrated energy ecosystems. The presentation also addressed issues related to the development of local industrial hubs, economic and infrastructural challenges, and the medium- to long-term potential of hydrogen as a clean energy carrier for industry, logistics and mobility.
Next, Cristina Maggi, Director of H2IT – the Italian Hydrogen Association, outlined the development of the hydrogen market in Italy and Europe, focusing on global investment, national strategies and the main political, regulatory and industrial challenges facing the sector.
During the talk, the central role of hydrogen within European energy policies emerged clearly, alongside the need to create infrastructure, skills and industrial supply chains capable of supporting the sector’s growth in the coming years and competing with the Chinese, North American and Indian markets.
Simplifhy’s first five years: growth, expertise and vision
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation by our CEO, Sergio Torriani, and our team, which focused on recounting the company’s first five years of growth.
Through an overview that traced the key milestones from 2021 to 2025, we shared the evolution of our business venture, the development of our in-house expertise, the growth of our team, and the major projects we have delivered in the hydrogen sector.
During the presentation, we highlighted the values that guide the company:
- respect for people and the environment
- technological innovation
- engineering know-how and technical expertise.
Furthermore, the team outlined the company’s future prospects, focusing on:
- the development of new projects
- international growth
- European research projects
- new technologies related to hydrogen and e-fuels.
“The goal we have set ourselves for the coming years is to expand our industrial and technological presence in the European hydrogen market, whilst maintaining a strong focus on innovation, engineering and sustainability,” emphasised Sergio Torriani.
The visit to the ITS Green Academy laboratories
Following the talks and the interactive quiz with prizes on the world of hydrogen, guests took part in a guided tour of the ITS Green Academy laboratories in Vimercate.
The tour provided an opportunity to experience first-hand the innovative technology of the state-of-the-art laboratory dedicated to hydrogen technologies, created through a collaboration between Simplifhy and the ITS Green Academy.
The laboratory comprises:
- hydrogen production modules
- AEM technologies
- PEM fuel cells
- compression and storage systems
- integrated automation and safety solutions.
The facility was established with the aim of offering students practical experience to become specialised technicians in green hydrogen, utilising technologies from the energy and industrial sectors, and combining theoretical training with hands-on experimentation.
During the visit, the Foundation’s other laboratory classrooms were also showcased, dedicated to industrial automation, new energy sources, BIM, immersive virtual reality and advanced electronics.
Networking and a glimpse into the future of green hydrogen
The day concluded with a convivial gathering featuring networking, music and discussions among professionals, partners and guests attending the event.
